Paws and reflect: How to spoil your pooch this National Pet Day!

  • As April 11th rolls around (see what we did there?), pet owners everywhere have a golden opportunity to shower their beloved furry companions with extra love and attention on National Pet Day. For Tuggs subscribers, you could argue that for your pet, every day is like National Pet Day - the delight of Tuggs meals (combined with their nutritional, lifespan-extending qualities) is the gift that keeps on giving! That said: it's the perfect occasion to spoil our loyal canine friends and celebrate the joy and companionship they bring to our lives - why not get a little creative this year? Here are some innovative and fun ways to treat your dog and make their National Pet Day extra special:

  • 1. Pup-Friendly Picnic: We know it's only April but some warmer weather is creeping back into our lives. Pack a basket with your dog's favourite snacks and treats (Tuggs for Tummies insect-based dog treats, anyone?), along with some dog-friendly fruits and veggies like apple slices or baby carrots. Head to a pet-friendly park or beach for a leisurely picnic together. Don't forget to bring a frisbee or ball for some playtime afterward!
  • 2. DIY Agility Course: Set up a mini agility course in your garden using household items like chairs, cones, and hula hoops. Guide your dog through the course with treats and praise, and watch as they navigate through tunnels, weave poles, and jumps. It's a fun way to stimulate their mind and body while bonding with them outdoors.
  • 3. Spa Day at Home: Treat your dog to a relaxing spa day at home with a soothing bath using pet-safe shampoos and conditioners. After, pamper them with a gentle massage using coconut oil or a moisturizing paw balm. Finish off the spa session with a stylish bandana or bow tie to make them feel extra fancy.
  • 4. Doggie Date Night: Plan a special date night with your dog by setting up a cozy movie marathon at home. Choose dog-friendly movies or nature documentaries featuring animals to watch together snuggled up on the sofa.
  • 5. Homemade Doggy Delicacies: Whilst we'd always endorse our own products, you too can create canine canapés from home! Get creative in the kitchen and whip up some homemade dog treats or pupcakes using dog-safe ingredients like peanut butter, pumpkin, and oats. You can find plenty of easy and delicious recipes online to spoil your pup with gourmet goodies made with love.

  • This National Pet Day, let's go above and beyond to spoil our furry friends and show them just how much they mean to us. Whether it's with a special outing, a DIY spa day, or a homemade treat, the most important thing is to celebrate the bond and unconditional love we share with our beloved canine companions.
